KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A crash killed a motorcyclist Thursday afternoon and shut down part of southbound Interstate 35 in Wyandotte County.
A Kansas Highway Patrol crash log stated the wreck happened about 1:20 p.m. on southbound Interstate 35 100 feet north of 18th Street.
The motorcycle and an SUV were in the middle lane and a tractor trailer was in the left lane, the report states.
The three vehicles slowed down in traffic and the motorcycle hit the left rear bumper of the SUV.
David R. Burkhardt, 43, of Lenexa, laid the 2006 Harley Davidson FLSTNI Softail motorcycle on its side and fell off, according to the report.
Burkhardt rolled into the left lane and was hit by the rear passenger side tires of the tractor trailer.
The drivers of the SUV and tractor trailer were not injured.
