KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman is in the hospital after a dog bit her in the face in Northeast Kansas City on Thursday morning, a city spokesperson said.

Around 8:30 a.m., Kansas City police called out Animal Control officers to the 3400 block of St. John Avenue on an animal bite.

According to KCMO's Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department, two pit bulls named Buck and Duke came out from an adjacent house and went after a woman.

One of the pit bulls attacked the woman, who suffered a bite to the face. She was transported to an area hospital with minor bite injuries.

The dogs took off, but Animal Control officers were able to impound them a short time later, the city said.

Both dogs are currently at the KC Pet Project.
