KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The FBI said Friday that a Belton man who died in connection to a shootout with agents in March died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Timothy Wilson died on March 24 after a confrontation with FBI agents who had been tracking his whereabouts out of concerns he might commit an act of domestic terrorism.
The results of an autopsy performed on Wilson’s body were released Friday and show that while Wilson suffered gunshot wounds from FBI fire to his upper and lower extremities, a gunshot wound to his head was likely what killed him.
The wound to the head was consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot, prompting the Cass County Coroner’s office to rule Wilson’s death as a suicide.
