Driver seriously injured after crash into KCPD East Patrol building

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver was seriously injured in a crash at the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department's East Patrol building early Thursday morning.

KCPD said the wreck happened around 3:30 a.m. at East Patrol, located at 2640 Prospect Ave.

A silver Ford Taurus traveling at a high rate of speed across the north parking lot crashed into one of the building's garage doors, police said.

The car also hit a concrete pillar as it continued into the detention sally port.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.
