KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On the eve of a major discussion for a new, single-terminal KCI, Edgemoor hosted their second to last design workshop at the Kansas City Downtown Library.

Where residents like Evan Stange jotted down what the new structure should contain.

"I think they're committed to seeing what we want," Stange said.

For him, it's affordable parking and making the terminal accessible using mass transit.

"A lot of people would want to know a little more about design, what's it going to look like," Stange said.

Through a detailed presentation, those questions were answered at Wednesday's workshop.

Although basics, like the number of gates and where baggage claim will be located, has already been figured out. Items like amenities are still up for discussion.

"We're taking back a lot of the key themes that we're hearing at these open houses and look to incorporate the best ideas into the best design," Geoffrey Stricker, with Edgemoor said.

Edgemoor told 41 Action News they've considered these conversations successful, with as many as 300 to 400 people attending the first five meetings.

At Thursday's KCMO business meeting, councilmembers will decide whether to change or approve the memorandum of understanding between the city and Edgemoor.

"We have a council that is motivated to get to an agreement, I think we'll be able to get through all of the details that are tough but at the same time we want to make sure it's a good deal for Kansas City," Jolie Justus, councilmember for KCMO's 4th district said.

Councilwoman Justus added she wants to get the memorandum approved by the end of the year because as residents voted they want this to see this terminal built sooner rather later.
