KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Students at Merriam Park Elementary School in Merriam were briefly put on lock down Thursday afternoon after police were called to investigate an armed elderly man.
Just after3 p.m., Merriam police were called to an incident on 61st Street north of the school, which is located near West 62nd Street and Mastin Street.
As a precaution, the school was placed on lock down as officers investigated.
A police spokesperson said an elderly man with a BB gun was found north of the school. Police said the man never made any threats to the public and was not taken into custody.
