The housing market is hot right now. That means you'll need to move faster than normal.

Redfin says the average home sold last month went under contract in 60 days. That's eight days faster than a year ago. What's more -- 15 percent of homes listed for sale last month were sold within two weeks.

That's the fastest since Redfin started tracking times in 2010. If you're thinking about entering the seller's market but your house isn't ready, the experts at the Greater Kansas City Home Show say there are still a few things you can do to add to your home's value.

"In the Midwest, we have a lot of honey oak wood that says I'm sad, give me love," said Jennifer Bertrand, a winner on HGTV's Design Star. "Paint the trim white. or, don't be scared to paint the trim navy. do something amazing."

Lance homer says remodeling company Jericho had their best month in sales ever this past January. He says a lot more people are interested in upgrading their kitchen so they can sell their home. Countertops are popular, with granite being a big seller and painted cabinets are preferred over stained cabinets.

"You can have a small bedroom but if you have a really nice kitchen, that takes over for it," said Homer.

It seems the consensus with experts paint your house,re-work or work on your kitchen do something with your master bedroom like choose a nice fixture like your master bath because that is your sanctuary.

"In the master bath, updating again, the shower, the tub, countertops, cabinets, really doing a full gut," said Shannon Slavens, owner of SRS designs.

Keep in mind, that could cost between $10,000 and $50,000 and take about a month or two to complete.

De-cluttering your home is something that shouldn't cost thousands of dollars but can make a big impact.

"That is space management. You know, everyone's screaming 'I haven't gotten enough space in the kitchen or in the bathroom,' said Karl Champley, host of Wasted Spaces on the DIY Network. "I kind of want to talk about that, because the fact of the matter is we have, we just have it full of crap! We got a lot of clutter in our homes so if we can kind of eradicate that and redesign and reorganize the space, we can nip that in the bud.

Champley and others will have more advice tomorrow - the last day of the home show. It's at Bartle Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
