A rental house in the city's east side sustained heavy damage in a fire.
Heavy smoke poured out of the house on the 3400 block of College Avenue when KCFD responded shortly after 11:30 a.m.
According to a battalion chief at the scene, flames at the rear of the first floor spread to the second-story of the house.
Firefighters worked quick and made an aggressive attack to prevent the fire from jumping to neighboring houses.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
