INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A judge sentenced a former Lee's Summit North High School teacher to 15 years in prison after he admitted to having sexual contact with a student.
Zhiyang Ji, 26, was sentenced Thursday in Jackson County Court in Independence.
Ji pleaded guilty to second-degree statutory sodomy and two counts of sexual contact with a student.
Ji told police he was helping the student with Chinese and math courses, according to court documents.
The two went to dinner at least twice earlier this year and students spotted Ji and the student together at a Starbucks.
Ji and the student exchanged nude pictures of themselves and Ji performed oral sex on the student, according to court documents.
