KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s been a pleasant spring so far, but Mother Nature is taking a break, at least for one night.

The National Weather Service announced Friday afternoon the Kansas City area is under a Freeze Warning, which runs 3 to 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

41 Action News chief meteorologist Gary Lezak says temperatures could drop into the upper 20s.

According to the National Weather Service, frost and freezing conditions overnight will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, while increasing the risk that outdoor plumbing will freeze.

Outdoor and above-ground water pipes should be wrapped, drained or allowed empty. Outdoor sprinkler systems should be drained.

In other words, those plants you got last weekend need to come inside this weekend.
