KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A juvenile who was struck by a truck on Oct. 18 while riding her bicycle across US 24 at Noland Road in Independence has died.

Independence police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the 15-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld by police, died Friday from her injuries.

The crash happened shortly after midnight on Oct. 18 when a pickup truck, which witnesses said had a green light, struck the girl and her bike, which was crossing the street despite a red light.

The driver and a passenger in the truck were not injured.

The driver told police it was too late to stop by the time the girl rode into the eastbound lanes.
