A new, seven-acre high wire and zip line adventure course in Kansas City is set to open April 9 in Swope Park near the Camp Lake of the Woods site.
While some have questioned why Kansas City would allow a private enterprise to operate on public park land, the new feature will likely draw crowds.

Operated by a company called Go Ape, the zip line opens to the public at 9:00 a.m., with the first zip lining session starting at 11:00 a.m.

James Lewis, instructor at Go Ape, says there is much more to do than just zip lining at the new course.
“Our course does have zip lines, but primarily what makes this place fun are the obstacles. We have a variety from upper-body crossings, balance crossings, and swinging crossings. There’s really no end to it,” said Lewis. “I get the most enjoyment out of watching people conquer their fears. Getting to see the sense of accomplishment on people’s faces and how happy they are is what makes this job rewarding.”
