Kansas City loves its Boulevard beer, but on a day in the 90s, you need some balance.
That's why there are plenty of places to cool off and get hydrated at Boulevardia.
Boulevardia staff encourages festival-goers to keep the water flowing along with the beer.
The Kansas City Water Department is hooked up to the fire hydrants, serving free water. You can bring your own water bottle as long as it's sealed or empty.
Medics and dozens of safety personnel are stationed nearby, and folks can sip out of the sun under plenty of tents.
"If you're coming to a beer festival and it's also hot and you're gonna drink beer, just have water. It's actually responsible that they're doing that for us, so I applaud," festival-goer Megan Fogarty said.
Executive Director of Boulevardia Keli O'Neill Wenzel said the new location in the Stockyards provides more opportunity for shade.
"We have a lot of new nooks and crannies that people can come into. Once you're in the shade, the breeze is really nice so there's reprieve for sure," O'Neill Wenzel said.
This is Boulevardia's fourth year, and the first in the Stockyards.
The hot temps don't keep people away.
"The heat takes a toll on you, but it's not that bad as long as you drink water," Lindsey Highly said.
Boulevardia has an app you can download that'll send you weather alerts in case it starts storming.
You can enjoy food, beer, vendors, and live music until 11 p.m. Saturday.
