KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A winter storm with blizzard conditions knocked out power for hundreds of people on Sunday but crews had electricity mostly restored by Monday afternoon.
Westar Energy had more than 800 customers without power as of 3:30 a.m. That number dropped to around 28 by 3 p.m.
The power company said it could be as late as Monday afternoon before some customers’ power is restored, as road and weather conditions made it difficult for crews to get to the affected areas.
Westar said it had called in additional crews, and they will work around the clock until power had been restored.
KCP&L reported that more than 650 people were still without power as of 3:30 a.m. By 3 p.m., KCP&L had restored power to about 198 of those customers.
Those crews also experienced problems getting to the affected areas, but KCP&L said they’d also be out at all hours until power is restored.
