Independence police still trying to identify human remains, ask for public help

UPDATE, SEPT. 26 |Police say they have made a preliminary idenfitifation of the human remains, though are waiting for additional testing to confirm. Police also announced they have made contact with Bobby Alexander.

SEPT. 25 | Independence police said on Wednesday that they are still working to identify a body that was found over the weekend.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of South Maywood Avenue at 11 p.m. Saturday after a report of human remains found in a wooded area.

Police released a description of what the person was wearing, asking for the public's help to identify them. The person was wearing a TCC-EZ diabetic foot wound care boot on their right foot, a black shoe with a lift attachment on their left foot, a Kansas City Royals baseball cap and a Costco employee polo shirt from an out-of-state store.

Police did not say whether the person is male or female. They did say it is a suspicious death investigation.

They are also trying to locate 28-year-old Bobby Alexander III, who may have information about the identity of the deceased person.
