KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An innocent driver suffered life-threatening injuries after a suspect led police on a high speed chase and crash at 85th & Holmes Saturday night.
Officers were attempting a car check on a vehicle leaving the scene of a call to service just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday when the Black Chevy Cruz took off at a high rate of speed.
One officer ended the chase, but the suspect continued, and struck a westbound green Volkswagen Bug at 85th & Holmes.
The driver of the Chevy Cruz tried to flee on foot, but as an officer was catching the suspect, they both fell down an embankment.
The suspect suffered a possible broken arm, the officer only suffered minor scrapes and bruises.
The suspect was taken into custody.
The driver of the Volkswagen suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.
