KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Food delivery apps bring our favorite restaurants to our fingertips.

You can get a delicious meal without ever having to leave the house, which is something you might consider for Super Bowl Sunday.

Before you buy, the 41 Action News Investigators decided to test four popular apps to find out who is the fastest and the cheapest.

In the lineup of famous combinations, there's peanut butter and jelly, mac and cheese and the Super Bowl and wings.

It was difficult to find a restaurant that served wings and was also available on all of the apps we tested, which included Postmates, Uber Eats, GrubHub and DoorDash.

Eventually we settled on buffalo wings from the Sarpino's Pizzeria in Westport.

Here are the times we submitted orders on each app:

  • Postmates (1:34 p.m.)
  • DoorDash (1:37 p.m.)
  • Grubhub (1:40 p.m.)
  • Uber Eats (1:43 p.m.)

Sarpino's deserves a special shout out for calling us to see if we accidentally ordered the exact same thing four times. Yes, we wanted all the wings.

Impressively, all of our deliveries arrived within the time window provided by the apps. A couple showed up even earlier. Traffic wasn't much of a factor considering the restaurant is just about a mile away from the station.

Here's the order in which our deliveries arrived:

  • Grubhub (2:03 p.m.)
  • DoorDash (2:04 p.m.)
  • Postmates (2:05 p.m.)
  • Uber Eats (2:14 p.m.)

Based on the time from ordering to delivery, Grubhub was the fastest, coming in at 23 minutes. DoorDash took 27 minutes, while Postmates and Uber Eats tied at 31 minutes.

Grubhub offered free delivery for Sarpino's, so it was also the easiest on the wallet.

This was the price breakdown (not including tips):

  • Grubhub: $12.15
  • DoorDash: $13.36
  • Postmates: $15.96
  • Uber Eats: $16.29

Keep in mind that the apps run special promotions like free delivery for certain restaurants, so you should take a look at the deals offered before you decide what to order. The apps often offer credits for referrals, so you could get money off your next order if you can get friends to create accounts.
