KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansans facing a financial crisis and struggling to receive their unemployment insurance demonstrated at the state Capitol in Topeka, Kansas, Friday.

The group represents Kansans who were forced to apply for unemployment insurance after job losses from the pandemic.

The group says the Department of Labor has ignored their pleas, and some payments have not been issued for several weeks, and in many cases months.

Organizer Cassandra Dickerson also says the group have received little or no factual information from the KDOL or the Gov. Laura Kelly's office.

Dickerson added that unemployment recipients are often not able to log into their KDOL accounts. In many instances a claimant cannot get through to the call center to speak to a representative.
