KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several schools in the Kansas City metro area closed early on Tuesday ahead of expected winter weather.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the metro area beginning at noon Tuesday. Throughout the afternoon, periods of light freezing rain and sleet showers could lead to rapidly forming slick spots on the road, according to the 41 Action News weather team.Highs on Wednesday will only reach the mid-20s in Kansas City.
Periods of freezing rain and sleet will be possible overnight and into Wednesday morning, when more slick roads are possible for the morning commute.
Excelsior Springs, Harrisonville and Kearney are among the schools districts that have announced early dismissals on Tuesday.
