KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A business owner in the Crossroads says construction crews are taking up parking spaces meant for customers.

David Lopez, the owner of Manny's Restaurant in the Crossroads District, says construction crews working in the area are taking up parking spaces all days which means his customers have nowhere to park. He says it's costing him money. He wrote an open letter to city leaders addressing the issue.

Lopez says their business has been near 20th and Southwest Trafficway for nearly 40 years and now customers have growing frustrations when it comes to coming to the restaurant for lunch.

Despite successful efforts to create 3-hour retail parking spots and hours, Lopez says construction workers are ignoring the rules as they work on a new luxury apartment complex currently under construction behind the restaurant.

Lopez has reached out to city leaders and desperately wants police to step up parking enforcement.
