Kansas City, Missouri, police locate body of 10-year-old boy at nearby pond

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE, 12:45 p.m. | Kansas City, Missouri, police and fire crews have located the body of 10-year-old Jackson Georgari.

KCPD spokesperson Capt. Jake Becchina said the boy was found unresponsive shortly after noon in a "fairly large pond" about a half mile from where he was last seen, near the Briarcliff Village on North Mulberry.

Nearby fire crews immediately began resuscitation efforts, but they were unsuccessful.

The boy was declared dead at the scene.

Becchina said detectives are processing the scene as a death investigation. There were no immediate signs of foul play.

"It's not an update we ever want to provide," Becchina said. "It's really unfortunate ... really feel for the family involved in this. It's unimaginable."

The medical examiner will work to determine the cause and manner of death.

In addition to KCPD and KCFD, Becchina said assisting agencies include Gladstone police, Riverside police, North Kansas City police, Missouri and Kansas search and rescue crews, and more.

UPDATE, 10:30 a.m. | A Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department spokesperson said several KCFD crews, including a drone crew, have been called out to assist in a joint search for the boy.

ORIGINAL REPORT | Kansas City, Missouri, police are looking for 10-year-old Jackson Georgari.

Police say he sleepwalks and likely walked out of his home while doing so.

He has no diagnosed medical conditions.

Jackson was last seen at 1118 NW Vivion Road at midnight.

Police say he was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and gray shorts.
