KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The city of Kansas City, Missouri, is planning to hop on the scooter craze.

The city's pilot project would feature a scooter and e-bike program.

A formal announcement is planned for Thursday afternoon, but details started to trickle out Wednesday.

It wasn’t immediately clear if or how the program might compete with dockless scooter company Bird.

City staff are scheduled to present additional information about the program at the Kansas City Council’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee meeting at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

Recently, the City Council voted to put some of the revenue from scooters into an affordable housing fund.

41 Action News reached out to the city about the possible mass exodus of the scooter company Lime.

The company removed scooters from the city as a part of an “evaluation” process months ago.

City officials said that Lime is considering returning.

Kansas City is no longer listed on its company website.
