KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s riverfront dog park is expected to expand across state lines with its second location.

Owners of the dog park, bar, restaurant and event space have their sights set on Oklahoma City’s Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River.

Leib Dodell, founding partner of Bar K, said officials scouted “a lot of markets” for the next location, according to a news release.

“As soon as we visited the Boathouse District, we knew we had to be here,” Dodell said. “Our unique dog-friendly atmosphere will be the perfect addition to this part of the city, and we can’t think of a better place to spend a day with your dog.”

Pending city approval, construction is expected to begin “shortly,” according to the release, and the 2-acre facility would open in late 2020 or early 2021.

Bar K opened in Kansas City, Missouri, in August 2018.
