46 Kansas City area high school students left Sunday morning for a week-long college tour.

It's part of the YMCA's Young Achievers program. The group will check out eight universities. These students hit the road in search of college acceptance letters and scholarships.

Christopher Madden is the director of Young Achievers. He said student have to apply for the program and it's designed to help students throughout the metro get into and stay in college.

"A lot of these students are first-year college students. They're the first in their family to go to college or even think about going to college," said Madden.
