KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Kansas, man was sentenced to 25 years in a Missouri prison on Monday for his connection with a murder that took place in Jackson County.

Xavier Otero, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

Otero is accused of taking part in the murder of 72-year-old William Domann on Oct. 30, 2017, in Independence.

According to court documents, Domann was found deceased in a bedroom in the 12500 block of East 43rd Street South.

A trail of blood outside the residence matched Otero, and surveillance video from the video showed him limping from what appeared to be an injury.

Nathan Hendricks, also involved in the murder, was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was arrested in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Nov. 20, 2017.

A third defendant, Onelio Garcia, is still awaiting sentencing. Both he and Otero were taken into custody at the time of the crime.
