KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools has selected a new superintendent.
Dr. Charles Foust will replace Dr. Cynthia Lane, who is retiring on Friday.Foust is currently the Chief School Performance Officer at Union County Public Schools in North Carolina.
In a release from KCKPS, Foust is described as "a leader in transformational education, guiding leaders to improve education so students receive a quality education daily."
Dr. Julia Ford, the former superintendent of Topeka Public Schools, will serve as the interim superintendent, beginning July 1.
Lane is retiring after more than 30 years with the district and eight years as superintendent.
Foust's start date is not yet known.
