KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Safety is the number factor school district leaders consider when deciding if classes should be canceled.

Adam Schwartz is the Director of Transportation for Grandview Public Schools. He explained that they want to make sure students can safely get to school on the bus or if they walk.

“We also look at staff — ability to report to school depending on how the roads are — our maintenance department being able to clear parking lot and put down salt and things like that and then, of course, again, the safety of making sure the buses can get around safely,” said Schwartz.

41 Action News will have all the school closings on the air and on our website. School districts also send an email blast to parents and post the information on their websites and Facebook pages.
