KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating an “apparent suicide” in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

The incident occurred at a parking garage near 10th and Main streets, according to KCPD.

Streets in the area were closed to allow for an investigation and RideKC announced that it had shut down KC Streetcar service in the area as well. The area reopened shortly before 1 p.m.

KCPD also issued a plea for those “contemplating suicide,” noting on social media that “there is help and there is hope. Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).”

That phone number is for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
