KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, Police Chief Rick Smith and Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas took a knee with protesters Monday afternoon at the Country Club Plaza.

After speaking with reporters about three consecutive nights of protests, Smith and Lucas went to the nearby J.C. Nichols Fountain, where a group of roughly 50 protesters had gathered.

After about 45 minutes of conversation, Chief Smith and Mayor Lucas, along with others in the crowed, took a knee and bowed their heads in a moment of silence for George Floyd.
