KCPD investigates man's suspicious death as homicide

UPDATE, 4 p.m. | KCPD said it appears the victim was shot. The investigation will continue as a homicide, according to KCPD.

ORIGINAL STORY | Homicide detectives with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department are searching for clues after a man was found dead Friday night.

The victim, an adult male, was discovered about 7:30 p.m. in an apartment in the 2600 block of Benton Boulevard, police said.

KCPD has not announced a cause of death, but said "the suspicious nature of the scene" prompted a homicide investigation.

A maintenance worker for the apartment complex discovered the man unresponsive inside the apartment.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood, while crime scene investigators and the medical examiner process the scene for evidence.
