UPDATE, Sept. 8, 2020 | Police have identified the driver as 31-year-old Dominque Harlin, of Kansas City, Missouri.
ORIGINAL STORY | Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a fatal crash that happened early Thursday morning.
Officers were called to East 39th Street and College Avenue just before 5 a.m.
According to police, a grey Ford Mustang was headed west on East 39th Street at high speeds when the vehicle went airborne.
The Mustang crashed into a tree and caught fire.
The driver was killed.
