Canines with KCPD along with members of the Missouri Search and Rescue team searched wooded areas, lots, and vacant homes in Belton and Grandview for any signs of Jessica Runions.
“We've gone to a lot of different locations. Are there any tips for this location? No, but we are just -- we don't want to miss anything,” Sgt. Kari Thompson, a KCPD spokeswoman, said.
It’s been seven weeks since the 21-year-old was last seen leaving a house party with Kylr Yust.
Yust, Kara Kopetsky’s former boyfriend, is charged with burning Runions’s car.
“I wake up every morning and try to think that you’re going to start off a normal day, but there are no normal days anymore it seems like,” Michele Runions, Jessica Runions’s aunt, said.
Her family isn’t giving up hope.
“You keep looking in every field, every tree thinking that you can find her somewhere and we will, we will find her,” Linda Runions, Jessica Runions’s grandmother, said.
A member of the Missouri Search and Rescue team told 41 Action News they’ve conducted searches on a weekly basis. It’s something that Jessica Runions’s family, friends and even strangers are also doing on their own.
“We’re looking everywhere, but there’s a lot of country out here and it’s hard to cover with 40-50 people,” Linda Runions said.
Jessica Runions’s family implores people who live in the area to keep their eyes peeled.
“We’ve got to keep her out there until we find her, we gotta keep here in the news, in the media, anywhere we can - that’s the goal,” Michele Runions said.
Yust is scheduled to be in court Monday.
