KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officers arrested two persons of interests who they say shot at them after shooting into a home and leading them on a chase in east Kansas City.

Multiple crimes scenes were left in the wake of the chase.

KCPD said it began shortly after 11 a.m. when officers heard gunshots in the area of 27th and Oakley.

“These officers were conducting patrol today. Just happened to come across a drive-by shooting,” Sgt. Kari Thompson, a KCPD spokesperson said.

The suspects were firing at a house before spotting police who went after them.

“Remember these brazen individuals shot into a residence without any care or concerns for children or anyone inside that house,” Thompson said.

At 27th and Topping, police said the suspects began firing at the officers. An officer returned fire.

The chase weaved through Blue Valley Park where evidence markers dotted the brown fields.

Eventually, the suspects wrecked near 24th and Topping and ran from cops.

With eyes from above and on the ground, officers caught two men they believe are responsible for the shooting.

But investigators don’t believe they were alone.

“We are hoping that their interviews produce fruitful information for us to find out,” Thompson said.

For the better part of Tuesday afternoon, KCPD tactical officers fanned out, going door to door searching for at least one other suspect.

“We are taking our time today, Kansas City. So, if you live in this area, we apologize but we are trying to produce a case on these individuals that will stick where they will be prosecuted,” Thompson said.
