KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Leavenworth, Kansas, man was sentenced Wednesday in an aggravated assault case at a Taco Bell.

Stephen Charlton, 28, is expected to serve 15 months with the Department of Corrections after he pointed a gun at a Taco Bell employee in March. The employee, according to the Leavenworth County attorney Todd Thompson, was “in fear for his life.”

“Normally, an individual with Charlton’s criminal history would be presumptive probation,” Thompson said in a statement. “However, given the use of the gun, a special rule applied turning the disposition into presumptive prison.”

Charlton’s request for probation on other grounds was denied.
