Local leaders send President, First Lady well wishes after COVID-19 diagnosis

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Local leaders are sending their best wishes to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after it was announced both tested positive for COVID-19 Friday morning.

Missouri and Kansas leaders and political candidates woke to the news Friday and began sending messages to the First Family.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson wished the Trumps a speedy recovery, while he and his wife recover from the virus themselves.

Missouri State Auditor and gubernatorial candidate Nicole Galloway also sent her best wishes with a reminder that anyone can contract the virus.

Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas was up early Friday tweeting his wishes for a full recovery with a little bit of a commentary on the seriousness of the virus and the state of healthcare in the U.S.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo) also joined the list of well-wishers, as did Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo), Rep. Roger Marshall (R-Kan) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).
