KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man died in an apartment fire at 115 NW Harlem Road early Saturday morning.
Fire crews were called to the Holiday Apartments two story building near the River Market area just before 5:30 a.m.
After quickly extinguishing the one unit fire, crews discovered a 51 year old man.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews and bomb and arson investigators are investigating the cause of the fire, and preliminary reports indicate it may be smoking related.
A smoke detector was inside the unit, but officials aren't yet sure if it was working.
Firefighters and residents say the man who died appeared to have some medical issues.
The man's id has not yet been released.
