The man charged in a drive-by shooting that led to the death of KCK Police Captain Robert “Dave” Melton was sentenced to 21 months in prison on Friday.

Daquan Sipple pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault, one count of criminal discharge of a firearm and one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
He also admitted to firing shots in the drive-by shooting in July.

Captain Melton was responding to the shooting when Jamaal Lewis shot and killed him. Sipple was already in police custody when that happened.
