KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities investigated the murder-suicide of a married couple in rural Bates City, Missouri.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office said deputies were sent the 3800 block of Linn Road for a death investigation around 9:45 a.m. Monday.
When they got there, they found a dead woman, identified as 52-year-old Robin Hicklin, on the main level.
Deputies said she appeared to be an assault victim.
Deputies found another body in the basement, identified as 49-year-old John Hicklin. His death was ruled a suicide.
The sheriff's office and county coroner concluded the deaths were a result of a murder-suicide.
Robin Hicklin's body was taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
John Hicklin's body was released to his family.
