LAWRENCE, Kan. — The COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of people working from home, which means the time they usually spend commuting to and from work, can be spent on other pursuits and activities.

For Kelly Scholz, that spare time was put to use giving her front yard life with some fun and exciting Halloween decorations.

Meet Charles and Agatha: the skeleton couple that is putting the funny in funny bone with their daily antics of either canoeing in the yard or vacuuming the porch. The two are always up to something fun.

Three years ago, Scholz bought the skeletons. Her daughter and a foreign exchange student that was living with them at the time gave them their names.

In years past, the couple would get moved around here and there. But, this year is different.

"My oldest daughter is a student at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She and her Razorback friends were encouraging me to send daily content because I would post it to my Instagram page and Facebook," Scholz said.

Scholz decided to change Charles and Agathas' set up every day.

As the two live in Lawrence, they put on their best game day gear and are Rock Chalk ready.

"It can be something related to the weather or something fun," Scholz said when it comes to thinking of ideas of what to do next.

Word is getting around about the couple. Scholz said people are frequently taking pictures while walking by or driving slowly past her house to see the display. It brings a smile to her face seeing other people excited.

"With COVID, that has been a heavy thing for everyone for so long. Let's face it, this election has not been fun either. It's been stressful. I think people just need something that is happy and light-hearted and they just enjoy seeing what they are going to do everyday," Scholz said.

Usually, the decorations would be taken down after Halloween. But because of how popular Charles and Agatha are becoming, they will stay up until after Election Day.

There is a Facebook page where you can keep up with the couple.
