Crash numbers for the Metro are starting to roll in.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports 210 calls for service in Wyandotte, Johnson and Leavenworth counties for car accidents between the 28th and 4pm on the 29th.

  • KCMO PD reports 45 injury accidents and another 300 non-injury accidents on Monday alone.
  • MODOT reports responding to 103 accidents on the 28th.
  • Overland Park police reports 80 calls for response in the past two days.

If you are one of the hundreds involved in a metro fender bender, Butler C&D Collision Repair owner Ron Butler has some words of advice.

Get the insurance claim/estimate completed before bringing the car to the repair shop

“It takes a while for the insurance company to get someone down to approve the claim. So the car might sit down here for a while waiting for insurance to approve it,” said Butler.

Be patient. Don’t expect the repairs to be finished overnight.

“Customers don’t realize how long an operation takes and they might want their car back, bring it in in the morning and get their car back the same day, not realizing how much time it takes to prepare the car and then color match it and let it dry and then bake it, sand it and polish it and clean it. To do a proper job it takes a while,” said Butler.
