All across the nation, people are honoring Martin Luther King Jr., including here in the metro. Several events focused on the legacy King left behind, including his vision for economic justice for all.

Rockhurst University held a prayer service included strong words from a diverse group. Aleeyah Thompson is a junior at Rockhurst; she participated in the MLK service.

"Being one of the few African-American students here at Rockhurst, just seeing my peers come together for this, makes me really excited. I think it's important that we all take this opportunity to learn," said Thompson.

Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church held a different kind of celebration - a public forum entitled "Moving the Money: Concrete Steps Towards Economic Justice for All." The president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Dr. Vernon Howard, addressed the crowd.

Several panelists talked about injustice before taking questions from attendees.
