Motorcyclist dies in Independence crash with pickup truck

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash, Independence police said.

The wreck happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. on U.S. 24 east of North Winfrey Road in the eastbound lanes.

A Honda motorcycle rear-ended a Ford F-250 pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries, but the motorcyclist died from his injuries at a local hospital.

Police later identified the motorcyclist as 46-year-old Christopher Beal of Lexington, Missouri.

The crash remains under investigation.
