KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri State Highway Patrol have identified the woman killed in a crash on Interstate 29 on Friday.

Troopers were at the scene of the crash, which occurred north of Platte City on southbound I-29 past mile marker 23, early Friday afternoon.

MSHP Sgt. Andy Bell said the crash happened while traffic was stopped due to congestion from construction at the Tracy, Missouri, exit.

Bell said a Ford F-150 with a lift kit and large tires hit the back of a car and went over it, then drove over a Chevrolet Impala before hitting a third vehicle.

The patrol said a woman in the Impala, 27-year old Shelby Peterman of St. Joseph, Missouri, died. A one-year old boy who was in a safety seat in the car was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

A 72-year old woman and 2-year old girl in the third car were taken to the hospital, but their injuries also were not believed to be life-threatening.

Bell said the F-150 driver and the driver in the first car the truck hit were not injured.

Four vehicles, none of which were commercial motor vehicles, were involved, MSHP said.

The southbound lanes of the interstate reopened shortly after 3:15 p.m.
