KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The mystery surrounding two Kansas City mummies may finally be solved.
The pair is on display at the Mummies of the World exhibit at Union Station and underwent CT scans at Saint Luke’s Hospital.
Unlike all the other mummies in the exhibit, very little is known about the two small mummies.
A specialist at Saint Luke’s wanted to see if a scan would help determine some unknown details about the pair, including their sex, cause of death, date of death and age.

They are on loan from the Kansas City Museum, where they had been in storage for almost 50 years.
The two mummies were donated the to the museum in the 1930s. The last time they were on display was in the 1960s.
They are thought to be at least 500 years old, but could be as old as 2,000 years. They are from Peru, and believed to be from the Incan Empire or earlier.
