KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A new food hall with a start-up element will officially open for business Friday in downtown Overland Park.

Strang Hall, located at West 80th and Marty streets, held a soft opening over the lunch hour on Friday, and its grand opening weekend will kick off at 5 p.m., according to its website.

The food hall will feature six different restaurants led by Kansas City area chefs, ranging from Asian and Latin cuisines to craft pizza and vegan foods.

Those running the new hall said they were excited for Friday’s grand opening.

“It’s really exciting because we’ve all been working really, really hard on this, and to see it come to fruition is really exciting,” the hall's director of operations Joe Follett said Thursday. “We’re really excited to start connecting with the community and making this a place that people all over the metro want to come and hang out.”

41 Action News' Chew Diligence had one of the chefs, Anourom Thomson, in the podcast studio to discuss how his Laotian roots influence his food today. Listen below.

Strang Hall's regular hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays; and 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays.
