OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Blue Valley School District opened its newest elementary school, Wolf Springs Elementary, in August. Enrollment exceeded the 300 student expectation.

They serve children from early childhood through fifth grade.

The school is further proof of Overland Park's population growth.

Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach said his city attracts young families from around the nation.

"We're about 190,000 people now and we're growing about 1,000 people a year." said Gerlach.
"That growth is happening not only in the southern part of our city, it's also happening in redevelopment in northern area and around downtown Overland Park."

In a national ranking, Livability.com graded Overland Park as #9 in the top "100 Best Places to Live." The city has managed to climb that list for the past four years in a row.
