Those trying to start Black Friday shopping early won’t be stopping at Oak Park Mall or Legends Outlets.

A letter from the president and CEO of the mall said it will be closed on Thanksgiving, saying they want people to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends.

“Over the last few years, we’ve watched as the magic of Black Friday has been diminished by an earlier start to the holiday shopping season. Gone are the days of waking before dawn to hunt for deals and doorbusters. Well, not this year,” Stephen Lebovitz, the president and CEO of CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., wrote.

Oak Park Mall will be open for Black Friday at 6 a.m.

Legends Outlets is following suit.

In previous years, the shopping center opened its doors for patrons on Thanksgiving night for Black Friday shoppers.

This year the retailer will reopen at 6 a.m. on November 25.

Independence Center will be open on Thanksgiving and Angela Pyszcznyski, the general manager, had the following statement:

“Independence Center will be open from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, November 25. We do not require our retailers to open, but the majority choose to do so due to customer interest.”
