Silver Alert canceled for missing Olathe man

UPDATE, 1:01 a.m. | Olathe police said they located John Murphy safe.

UPDATE, 11:22 p.m. | Olathe police said that Murphy's vehicle was found in Independence, but Murphy still has not been located. He was last seen around 5 p.m. leaving QuikTrip on 40 Highway and Highway M291.

ORIGINAL STORY | The Olathe Police Department issued a Silver Alert Tuesday night for a 68-year-old man.

John Murphy was last seen at his home around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Murphy is 5’9” and weighs 160 pounds. He has gray hair, hazel eyes and a slim build.

He was last seen in a green-and-white plaid shirt and khaki pants. He also was wearing a red Carhartt jacket and prescription glasses.

Police said he might be driving a white Honda Accord with Kansas license plate 012ENY. The Accord has an SPCA sticker on the back window, according to police.
