UPDATE, Nov. 4 | Kansas City, Missouri, police have identified the victim as 21-year-old Ameerah Lawson of Kansas City, Missouri.
EARLIER | One person is dead and two others in the hospital following an early morning crash in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to Kansas City police, a vehicle carrying three people was driving at a high rate of speed and struck a concrete highway sign post then started on fire. It happened around 2:50 a.m. near Gregory Boulevard and 71 Highway.
Authorities say no one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were transported to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life threatening injuries.
