KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police identified the victim killed in a Jan. 23 house fire in the Northland as 79-year-old Anna Fox.

A second woman got out of the house, but suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital in critical, but stable, condition. She is expected to recover.

Firefighters were sent to the house about 5 a.m. and found smoke and fire coming from the one-story house in the 4400 block of N. Indiana Ave.

Fox, who firefighters said was physically challenged and not able to escape the fire, died inside the house

The KCPD Bomb and Arson unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
